An Education Drive
for Foster Children & Teens

A virtual back-to-school drive to ensure that youth in foster care are fully equipped with the tools and resources necessary for an equitable education.

There are two ways individuals, organizations and businesses can support a youth in care:

Choose an age group to donate

1. Adopt a Tag

  • Click on the age group you’d like to donate from the buttons above.
  • Click "new tag" to browse requests (hitting the back-arrow starts the tag search over).
  • Once you choose a tag, click Donate Money for Supplies OR Buy Item
  • If choosing Buy Item, you will be redirected to a form to adopt the tag and receive an email confirmation. You then purchase the item from the tag from any online retailer and ship to:
    AFS Development Department, 401 Roland Way #150, Oakland, CA 94621
  • If choosing to Donate Money for Supplies, take note of the foster youth's name and then enter it on the form at check-out (it's okay if you forget to enter the youth's name, we have a way to keep track).
  • Note: Aliases are used on the tags to protect the client's identity. Please no personalized gifts.

2. Donate Directly to the AFS Foster Learning Fund

$5,000: Tuition support for two Transition Age Youth (TAY)
$1,000: Tutoring expenses for one Youth
$500: Laptop/Chromebook for school
$250: School clothes/shoes for two Youth
$100: New backpacks for three Youth
$75: Haircare kit for Black Youth
$50: School supplies for one Youth

  • There is no limit to how many tags you can fulfill
