The AFS Tapestry

AFS is a vibrant community, a rich tapestry comprised of diverse staff, foster, adoptive, and biological families, volunteers and community partners who have been helping foster children and youth since 1978. We celebrate diversity, equal opportunity and excellence. AFS employs about 170 staff members from more than 12 countries with education ranging from high school graduates to PhDs to provide a wide range of foster, adoption and mental health services in English and Spanish. AFS invites individuals interested in making a difference in the lives of foster children, youth and families to work with a team of dedicated, passionate people to consider the employment opportunities available with AFS.

Working for AFS was a perfect way to bridge my Master’s Social Work program knowledge to ‘real world’ work with people. Its community based services model provided me the opportunity to develop professionally as a therapeutic case worker and a passionate child advocate. I wake up every morning excited about going to work. I find AFS to be an outstanding organization with a high level of integrity that starts at the top and trickles down to us.
